The Bay Area is one of the US’s most beautiful and prosperous regions, offering endless possibilities for working and living. Here are some of the best places to live in the Bay Area.
Berkeley
Berkeley attracts students from all over the United States as it is home to UC Berkeley – the oldest institution in the University of California system. Telegraph Avenue is where most locals and students shop and dine. Cesar Chavez Park- located on the western side of the avenue – is an ideal place for watching ships pass, flying kites, or dog walking. There are well-preserved Spanish-style homes close to the water, whereas the post-modern homes are on the hillsides.
Palo Alto
Palo Alto is the headquarters of Skype, Hewlett-Packard, and Lockheed Martin. This town offers a mix of urban and suburban and attracts many young tech professionals and job seekers in the booming tech space. Students are also drawn to the city, as the Stanford University campus resides just off El Camino Real. Most residents here own their homes. You’ll find them relaxing on University Drive, which hosts many boutique shops, restaurants, and coffee cafes.
Menlo Park
On the eastern side of San Mateo County is Menlo Park, which sits on the Bay’s shores and borders Palo Alto to the southeast. This city hosts the Facebook headquarters, where Google was founded. You will find plenty of multi-million dollar homes on tree-lined streets in Belle Haven, Sharon Heights, Allied Arts, and The Willows suburbs. Locals gather in Downtown Menlo Park for dining and shopping along Santa Cruz Avenue.
Mountain View
Located just south of Palo Alto is Mountain View. Most of the city is residential. The headquarters of Mozilla, Firefox, and Googleplex is north of the 101. Mountain View is a scenic city with a striking view of the Santa Cruz Mountain Range to the west and picturesque views of the San Francisco Bay to the East. Mountain View’s central hub is Castro Street which has restaurants, bookstores, and coffee shops, making it the best for weekend hangouts.
Homes in the Bay Area are a bit pricier since the locals have higher salaries. However, it offers beautiful landscapes, neighborhoods, and entertainment worth your while. The public transport system is well-organized. You can easily get around without a car.
